Sponsor A Child

Have you ever think of sponsoring a child? Every time I heard someone sponsored a child and start talking about the child story (eg. how they feel when receiving the child's result report, writing letter to them and buying them Christmas or new year gift, etc). I felt so touching because they give them the opportunity to study and have better life than before. So, I decided to sponsor one this year. RM 50 per month can help to find solutions for those children growing up in a poor country. If your financial allowed, why not sponsor a child too? They really need our helps.

Terry-Cloth Caddy

Clear off bathroom countertops by storing toiletries in a hanging organizer. To make one, just stitch a few seams in a hand towel.

Tools and Materials:
Hand towel (about 19 inches by 40 inches)
Straight pins
Sewing machine
1/2-inch-diameter dowel (2 inches longer than width of towel)
One yard grosgrain ribbon

Step by step:
  1. Fold down top of towel 1 1/2 inches; pin, then sew to create a channel for the dowel.
  2. Flip towel over; fold it onto itself so it overlaps about 5 inches; pin.
  3. Repeat to make a second pleat so bottom edge of towel is bottom edge of caddy; pin.
  4. Sew along both sides of towel, leaving channel at top open and reinforcing pockets' corners.
  5. Sew two more seams to divide towel's width into thirds.
  6. Pass dowel through channel, tie ribbon to both ends, and hang.

Respect Checklist

In my opinion, 'respect' is the most important keyword in relationship. Many quarrel starts when respect is no longer exist in the relationship.

When you're in a relationship, you must be treated with respect.

  • is willing to compromise

  • let you feel comfortable being yourself

  • is able to admit to be wrong

  • tries to resolve conflict by talking honestly

  • enables you to feel safe being with them

  • respect your feeling, your opinions and friends

  • accepts you saying no to things you don't want to do

  • accepts you changing your mind

  • respect your wish

Above respect checklists taken from http://www.dvirc.org.au/whenlove/respect.htm

Martha Stewart - Perfect Lady

Martha Stewart, a perfect lady that every lady admires. I knew about her through NT7 program - "The Martha Stewart Show". She is really expert in every field, namely cooking, gardening, home deco, and so forth. Following is about her background.

Martha Stewart has always drawn inspiration from her surroundings. Raised in Nutley, New Jersey, in a family with six children, she developed a passion for cooking, gardening, and homekeeping in her childhood home on Elm Place. Her mother, a schoolteacher and homemaker, taught her the basics of cooking, baking, canning, and sewing; her father, a pharmaceutical salesman and avid gardener, introduced her to gardening in the family's small but orderly backyard garden when she was 3.
While earning a bachelor's degree in history and architectural history at Barnard College, Martha worked as a model to pay tuition. She married in her sophomore year, and upon graduating, she became a stockbroker on Wall Street, where she gained business training. After moving to Westport, Connecticut, in 1972 with her husband and daughter, Alexis, she developed a catering business that was unlike any other. The business's unique visual presentation of food and the elegant recipes created for various catered events were the basis for her first book, "Entertaining," published in 1982.
Martha's creative vision is the blueprint for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and the expansive multimedia portfolio that includes award-winning magazines such as Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart Weddings; the nationally syndicated, Emmy Award-winning television series "The Martha Stewart Show;" Martha Stewart Living Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio; the best-selling book "The Martha Stewart Homekeeping Handbook;" Martha Stewart Everyday mass-market merchandise, sold at Kmart; Martha Stewart Furniture with Bernhardt; Martha Stewart-designed homes and communities with KB Home; Martha Stewart cards; Martha Stewart Rugs with Safavieh; and the Martha Stewart Collection of products for the home at Macy's.

How many female best friends do you have?

Counting my fingers, I have about 10 female best friends, not a big deal rite? I just discussed about this topic with my hubby, he comment that I have 'too many' and 'too easily' categorizeg my friends as 'BEST FRIENDS". I totally disagreed with him! Since I have lots of friends that we still keep in touch since we meet 10-20 years ago, what's wrong if I have so many best friends, they are from different groups and backgrounds. I treasure everyone of them because they are my soul mates and very supportive in my life, I really hope that we can be FOREVER FRIENDS.

How about you?

Chapter 2: Mr Fix-It and the Home-Improvement Committee

Life on Mars
A man's sense of self is defined through his ability to achieve results.

To offer a man unsolicited advise is to pressume that he doesn't know what to do or he can't do it on his own.

Life on Venus
A woman's sense of self is defined through her feelings and the quality of her relationship.

Give up Giving Advice
Generally speaking, when a woman offers unsolicited advice or tries to "help" a man, she has no idea of how critical and unsolving she may sound to him.

Learning to Listen
Many times a woman just wants to share her feelings about her day, and her husband thinking he is helping , interrupts her by offering a steady flow of solutions to her problems.

When our partner resist us it's probably because we have made a mistake in our timing or approach.

A man wants to make improvements when he feels he is being approached as the solution to a problem rather than as the problem itself.

Chapter 1: Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus

Remembering Our Differences
We mistakenly assume that if our partners love us they will react and bahave in certain ways - the ways we react and bahav when we love someone.

When men and women are able to respect and accept their differences then love has a chance to blossom.

Sex and the City

'Sex & the City', one of my favourite US series. My friend bought me Season 1 as my birthday present in year 2006. I started to collect the complete set (Season 1-6). Lately, I heard this year will have 'Sex & the City Movie', can't wait to watch it. By the way, I watch till Season 3 only; 3 more seasons to go. I must finish the series before I watch the movie :)

I loved this series so much because they are so open talking about 'sex' with their friends, so they understand man better. Besides, I am attracted to the clothes and assesories they wearing. Only one thing I can't accept - 'ONS' (One Nite Stand) is so common for them.

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus

By Seok Liew

Pei Chin recommended me this book in 2007. I bought it 2 weeks ago and found it really useful in terms of understand men and women better. It is an essential tool for couples who want to develop more satisfying relationships with their partners. In this book, John provides a practical and proven way for men and women to communicate better by acknowledging the differences between them.

Based on years of counseling couples and research, he gives advice on how to counteract these differences in communication styles, emotional needs and modes of behavior to promote a greater understanding between partners. His simple suggestions for reducing conflict, information on interpreting behavior and secrets to successful relationships will enrich your life.
This book also gave Pei Chin & myself an idea to set up 'VENUS LADIES CLUB' for all my ladies friends to post a topic or comment. I promised to share the ideas from the book after I read each chapter. Looking forward to all ladies participation, cheers!!!
